Teaching Philosophy.
As an instructor it is my goal to create an environment that cultivates creativity, vulnerability, discipline and growth. Throughout my work, I value a personal connection to each student, establishing their strengths, weaknesses and learning modalities to better understand how to create a greater sense of success and progress within their work. I strive to build the foundational dance techniques while also allowing experimentation with improvisation, imagery and composition to encourage students to establish their own artistic voice.
Utilizing my training in Pilates, I strive to educate students on the importance of body awareness, injury prevention and full body connectivity to reach their technical goals.
These two approaches combined help to challenge students, resulting in not only the expansion of creative thinking and individualism, but also in a fully comprehensive understanding of technique; resulting in a multifaceted artist.
Ultimately, I am interested in the effects dance training can have on imagination, confidence and awareness of others in addition to the physical benefits. I seek to instill experience and characteristics that will assist students through their various life endeavors.
